To Date the Patriots Project Group has:

  • Shipped 13,125 packages to our deployed troops.
  • Holds recognition programs for local veterans. To date 3,285 local veterans have attended.
  • Places wreaths on graves in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. To date we have raised funds to sponsor 6,707 wreaths.
  • Raised $3,582.00 for the Flight 93 Memorial.
  • Dedicated & maintains a memorial at the CAHS to honor the 8 grads who died in service. This is outside the main entrance at the Sr. High.
  • Received a piece of the WTC destroyed on 9/11 that is displayed in the foyer at CAHS. This serves as a reminder to all who remember and a lesson for those who are too young to remember.

Care Packages for Deployed Troops

The CAHS Patriots is a volunteer group, founded by Connellsville High School teacher Linda Shearer in March 2003. The group is comprised of students, educators, parents and community members and emphasizes promoting patriotism throughout the school and community while showing their support by sending care packages to deployed servicemen/women. To date, CAHS Patriots have shipped 13,125 packages to our deployed troops.

Wreaths Across America

Connellsville will be participating in Wreaths Across America again this year. This is our 13th year participating in this event. Wreaths are $17.00 each and will be placed in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville on December 16th. Wreath forms are attached for your convenience. All orders are due by November 5th and should be mailed to CAHS Patriots, Inc. 304 Stadium Road, Connellsville, PA 15425-1964.

Information regarding the trip on the 16th will be provided to those who are interested in going. Please contact me personally.

Veterans Monument Honors CAHS Graduates

In November, 2007 the CAHS Patriots renovated the existing Veterans' Memorial in front of the high school. Students at the Career and Technical Center cleaned and repointed the structure. Local contributors paid for the landscaping, paving, flagpoles and three bronze plaques honoring three CAHS grades who gave their lives while serving this nation. EM Timothy Bollibon of the class of 1986 gave his life during Operation Desert Storm in 1991. GM3 Heath Stillwagon of the class of 1987 gave his life aboard the USS Iowa in 1989. PFC Shelby Feniello of the class of 1999 gave his life during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Four bronze plaques were added in November, 2008 for Vietnam veterans: SGT Earl D. Barkley of class of 1968 gave his live during Vietnam Conflict in 1971. SP4 Francis Addis of the class of 1968 gave his life during the Vietnam Conflict in 1970. PFC Lawrence Eans of the class of 1967 gave his live during the Vietnam Conflict in 1968. SN Robert “Jumbo” Miller of the class of 1968 died in 1969 while assigned to the USS Forrestal. SPC William Cable of the class of 1994 gave his life while in service during the Global War on Terror in 2008.
